Understanding NCR Printing
Understanding NCR Printing
What does NCR stand for in printing?
NCR stands for No Carbon Required. It refers to specialist carbonless paper that creates multiple copies of handwritten information without traditional carbon sheets. NCR paper is commonly used for duplicate invoices, triplicate job sheets, receipts, delivery notes and other business forms.
How does NCR paper work?
NCR paper uses special coatings that react when pressure is applied. When you write on the top sheet, the pressure transfers the information to the sheets underneath, producing additional copies. This allows businesses to create multiple records in one simple process.
What is the difference between NCR paper and carbon paper?
Traditional carbon paper requires a separate carbon-coated sheet between pages to transfer writing. NCR paper uses coatings already applied to the paper, eliminating the need for loose carbon sheets. This makes carbonless forms cleaner, more convenient and easier to use for everyday business paperwork.
What is the difference between duplicate, triplicate and quadruplicate NCR forms?
Duplicate NCR forms contain two sheets, creating an original and one copy. Triplicate forms contain three sheets, producing an original and two copies. Quadruplicate forms contain four sheets, providing an original and three copies.
We also produce 5-part NCR forms for businesses requiring additional records.
What are NCR forms commonly used for?
NCR forms are used across many industries for invoices, receipts, delivery notes, purchase orders, job sheets, service reports, inspection forms, hire agreements and other paperwork.
They are particularly useful when customers, employees or departments need their own copy of a completed document.
Are NCR forms still useful for businesses using digital systems?
Yes. NCR forms remain useful for businesses that need handwritten records, customer signatures or paperwork completed on-site.
They can be especially practical for mobile workers, delivery drivers, engineers and tradespeople who need to provide immediate copies without relying on a printer or internet connection.
